Garrett Mason has been throwing pots since he was 14. He studied clay at Sierra Nevada College & later attended California College of Arts for clay and glass. Garrett is a maker at heart, always working with his hands, with a passion for precision and evoking the qualities of nature. He embraces the alchemy of pottery, blending elements to create glazes and refining the firing of his kilns.

Garrett began building Point Reyes Pottery in the back wing of the Point Reyes Surf Shop in 2020. Now in 2025 he is focused solely on clay, launching his first series of classes and developing his collection of custom cups and handcrafted ceramic water storage vessels.

His vision for Point Reyes Pottery is a community space for learning and self-expression through working with clay. He also has an endless sea of concepts for your custom one-of-a-kind commissioned pieces. His most recent inspiration is a hand-thrown ceramic Berkey-style water filter.

His non-clay obsession is growing cactuses, breeding cactuses, and watching his baby cacti grow. You’ll start to see them in the pottery soon if you haven’t already.
